Welcome!

The Cosmological Simulation Group at the University of Illinois studies the formation and evolution of structures such as globular clusters, galaxies, and clusters of galaxies. We use advanced computational methods such as adaptive mesh refinement to solve numerically the equations describing the behavior of matter, magnetic and gravitational fields, and radiation in cosmological settings. We make extensive use of parallel computers in carrying out and analyzing simulations, particularly at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). As part of NCSA's Cyberapplications and Communities Directorate, we also develop cyberinfrastructure tools to support astrophysical simulation. lcdm_128.png
